There is just one week remaining to submit nominations for the 14th annual Petplan and Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) Animal Charity Awards, which celebrate the exceptional teams and individuals working tirelessly to rescue and rehome animals in need.

We’re excited to announce that applications for Full Membership with ADCH are now open, for our first application period of 2026. This window will run from Monday 09 February to Sunday 01 March.

The Petplan & Assoication of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) Animal Charity Awards are in their 14th year, recognising and celebrating teams and individuals within the animal welfare sector who work tirelessly to rescue and rehome animals in need.

On behalf of all at the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes, we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Sarah Fisher’s family and to the wider Tilley Farm community. 

When Charlotte, an ADCH Trustee, and her husband Gary, an ADCH volunteer who runs weekly wellbeing sessions for members, decided the time was right to welcome another dog into their lives, they knew it would always be a rescue.

On International Volunteers Day we would like to recognise and celebrate the huge contribution volunteers make to ADCH and our Members.

The ADCH Board has announced a change in its Treasurer role. Yvonne Goddard has now stepped down from the role of Honorary Treasurer, and we’d like to extend our sincere thanks for the support she has given during her time in the position. We’re delighted to confirm that Peter Hepburn has been appointed as our new Honorary Treasurer, continuing his commitment to ADCH in this new capacity.

Our last Open Meeting of the year took place on 25th November 2025 at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, hosted by Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter.
