Welcome to ADCH’s Newest Member – Spirit of the Dog Rescue
ADCH is delighted to welcome our newest Full Member, Spirit of the Dog Rescue, predominantly Essex based, run entirely by volunteers and funded by donations.
Spirit of the Dog Rescue specialise in dog centred, responsible rehoming, taking in dogs in need, giving them a qualified behaviour and wellbeing team who support them from day one, an in depth matching process with their new adopter, behaviour support for life and rescue backup for life too. Their principle, ‘Once a Spirit Dog, always a Spirit Dog’, means every single dog has rescue back up in the case that their carer’s circumstances ever change, so they always have a safe place to go and team to support them.
The charity was founded in 2004 by behaviourists who were passionate about preventing behavioural surrenders and euthanasia cases through education, dedicating their lives to helping dog caregivers in our local communities learn to understand, respect and bond with their dogs. 20 years on we uphold their values and strong ethics, expanding the support we are able offer to include education programmes, a local food bank scheme and low cost microchipping.
When asked about their reason for joining ADCH, Spirit of the Dog Rescue said,
“As an organisation we believe that rescues should be regulated; we are very proud that our standards of care and practice are ADCH approved and grateful for the support that membership brings.”
On being successfully admitted to ADCH membership, Jenna Miller, Chairperson of Spirit of the Dog said,
“All of our volunteers are very excited about the charity’s ADCH membership and the opportunity to connect with other like-minded organisations, we believe that the future of dog rescue relies on regulation and we are thrilled about the work going on within the association.”
ADCH would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Spirit of the Dog Rescue for passing their recent external assessment by meeting our Minimum Welfare and Operational Standards. We hope the rest of our membership will join us in giving them a warm welcome to the ADCH community!
