Welcome to ADCH’s Newest Member – Hector’s House Cat Rescue

We’re excited to welcome Hector’s House Cat Rescue to the ADCH community as our newest Full Member.

Hector’s House Cat Rescue  is a charity based in Torbay, Devon, that predominantly works with unowned cats. Although based in Torbay, they also cover most of Devon and occasionally Somerset.

Hector’s House is formed mainly of volunteers alongside 1 full-time and 3 part-time members of staff, and the vast majority of their intake is made up of unneutered male cats.

Many cats that have spent significant time straying may need some time to adjust and rebuild trust with humans, and the charity offers them that opportunity. However, there are instances where some cats choose to avoid interaction, and this is fully respected.

At Hector’s House, giving every cat the choice to decide their own path is a key priority. The goal is to find the best and most suitable homes for them once they have been neutered, microchipped, and are medically fit.

Their core mantra is simple: Cats first. Always.

When asked about their reason for deciding to apply for ADCH Membership, Founder Zara Oldfield, shared:

“We want to ensure that we’re giving our cats the best possible standards of care and environment and being a full member of ADCH does exactly that. “

Following their successful admission to Full Membership, after undergoing an external assessment against our Minimum Welfare and Operational Standards, Zara added:

“We’re utterly delighted to be part of an organisation that has animal welfare at its heart.

Opening our new cat rescue centre was the perfect opportunity to ensure everything was in place for the ADCH minimum standards to be achieved and in some areas surpassed.

Our team have worked extremely hard to implement our policies and procedures, ensuring our cats receive the best care possible.”

ADCH is thrilled to welcome Hector’s House Cat Rescue as a Full Member and encourages everyone in the ADCH community to join us in giving them a warm welcome.
