Building resilience and avoiding stress and burnout with The KJ way

The KJ Way teaches people powerful brain-based mindfulness exercises that help them to reduce their stress, increase their resilience, and enhance their focus, effectiveness and personal wellbeing. Bringing the benefits of mindfulness into the workplace with tools people can immediately start using, both in their professional and personal lives, to create positive and meaningful change for themselves and their teams.

These days, people are experiencing so many changes and challenges these in the workplace and beyond that they are more stressed than ever. In the UK in 2020 the cost of poor mental health to UK business was £45billion. Recent research has shown 50% of workdays lost are through stress and 1 in 6 workers experience mental health problems. Over time, stress can lead to chronic stress and serious health implications, as well as a sense of overwhelm and even burnout.

I’m Karen Janes, Certified Workplace Mindfulness Facilitator and owner of The KJ way. I’ve had a 20-year career in the charity sector working in senior leadership roles, including 13 years at a national pet charity. Mindfulness has been transformational for me – bringing more resilience, balance, optimism and joy to my life and work – and I am now committed to delivering workplace mindfulness solutions to help organisations and their people to flourish and thrive.

Benefits and results of mindfulness in the workplace

Scientific research and advances in neuroscience have underlined many benefits of mindfulness in the workplace – far wider than just wellbeing. Organisations that invest in workplace mindfulness have achieved results such as:

  • 30% reduction in stress levels
  • 14% reduction in burnout symptoms
  • 21% increase in resilience
  • 20% increase in productivity
  • 14% increase in focus
  • 5% growth in employee engagement
  • Improvements in working relationships, creativity, innovation and strategic thinking

About the tools and programmes

All the tools and practices I offer are secular, adapted to the workplace, and trauma sensitive. They are equally suitable for beginners as well as people with previous mindfulness experience. Sessions can also be tailored to your team’s bespoke needs if you have specific challenges you are currently facing.

What my clients are saying

Brian, Head of Volunteering at the RSCPA, said this about a workshop I delivered for his team:

“Karen recently ran a mindfulness session at our Volunteering Development team meeting. Everyone in the team really enjoyed the hour-long session which gave us all an opportunity to learn some techniques to help us deal with busy workloads and the challenges of working in a fast-paced environment. Two weeks later, and the team are still talking about the session and practising the techniques. They are also sharing their learning with other colleagues and family members. I cannot recommend Karen enough if you want to help your team reduce stress, and improve focus and resilience through workplace mindfulness”
