We are looking for a Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join the team of two other Veterinary Surgeons, the Practice Manager, Head Registered Veterinary Nurse, three Registered Veterinary Nurses, two Veterinary Care Assistants and two Receptionists.
The Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon, line managed by the Practice Manager, will manage the Veterinary Surgeons, act as Clinical Lead for the practice and will be responsible for clinical governance.
The purpose-built premises opened in January 2022. It is superbly equipped with an operating theatre, large prep room, three consult rooms, separate cat and dog recovery wards, an isolation ward, a diagnostic imaging room (with digital x-ray equipment and ultrasound), a separate dental room (with digital dental x-ray equipment), an in-house laboratory area, a dedicated reception area, laundry/autoclave room and a vet office.
The Vet Clinic @ Birmingham Dogs Home is located at our Birmingham Centre in Catherine-de-Barnes, Solihull, B92 0DJ. We have a second Rehoming Centre in Coven, Wolverhampton which is visited by the vet team twice a week.
We Are Looking For A Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon With
- Strong clinical experience
- Experience leading a team
- Must be customer centric
- Experience or appreciation of working in a charity environment would be helpful
- Certificate holder/ or working toward a certificate would be ideal though not essential, and someone wanting to start to undertake a certificate would be encouraged and supported
The Vet Clinic @ Birmingham Dogs Home provides veterinary services for all of the dogs in the care of the Charity (approximately 135) from our two rehoming centres – Birmingham, in Solihull and Wolverhampton in Coven, Wolverhampton. We also have an external client base from the local community with pets such as dogs, cats and small furries.
Willows Vet Centre and Referral Services provide the out of hours services and emergency support for dogs at the Birmingham Centre and St George’s Vet Group for the dogs at our Wolverhampton Centre.
The benefits we offer are:
- Salary for 1 FTE is up to £74,400 (depending on experience);
- Currently we have a 40 hours per week over 4 days (8.30am to 6.30pm) rota pattern which includes one Saturday morning every three weeks. We may look at alternative requirements in terms of hours or days should a strong candidate have a particular need to work certain days and/or hours;
- £1500 CPD allowance + 30 hours per annum based on 1 FTE;
