HSI Grant

Humane Society International (HSI) have kindly donated £4,500 to be distributed to ADCH members. It will be distributed as small grants to members who are facing short-term financial difficulties, prioritising members in parts of the country where demand for rescue/rehoming services are high and heavily dependent on those members and require funding to help them meet and retain ADCH Minimum Welfare and Minimum Standards.

Eligibility will be limited to ADCH members with income below £100k, to capture those rescues to whom an award of grant monies would have a significant impact. As part of the application, we will ask the applicant to demonstrate the need for their services in the areas they serve.   Only those who have paid their membership fees in full for 2024 are eligible to apply. In the event that many applications are received, the organisation’s reserves level will be taken into consideration. This information will be requested as part of the application.

We anticipate applications for amounts in the range of a few hundred pounds, however we are open to considering fewer, larger grants where members can clearly illustrate need and financial requirements.

Key Dates

  • Open for applications – 29 February 2024
  • Deadline for application – 31 March 2024
  • Outcome known – Week commencing 22 April 2024 onwards
  • Payment – 30 April 2023

In order to apply for this grant programme applicants must:

  • Applicants need to have been ADCH Full or Provisional members on 29 February 2024 in any jurisdiction
  • ADCH Membership must be paid in full for 2024.
  • Have an annual income of less than £100k
  • Be able to demonstrate an increase in demand for services causing short-term financial difficulties.

This grant programme will not fund:

  • Rescues and shelters who are not ADCH Full Members. Affiliate Members are not eligible to apply
  • Grants to cover staff pay rises
  • Grants used to facilitate international rehoming
  • Full Members with income of more than £100k

If we receive many more applications than we have funds to support, priority will in the first instance go to:

  • Rescues who are able to demonstrate that funding will help to meet or maintain ADCH Minimum Welfare and Operational Standards
  • Rescues with less than 3 months in reserves
  • Rescues with more than 3 months of reserves but excluding charities where they can demonstrate reserves are in an investment portfolio and liquidating them would have significant costs associated or result in significant loss of value)

The grant must be spent for the purposes detailed in your application and be accounted for as a restricted fund.  Successful applicants will be required to complete a simple progress report showing the impact of the funding. A reporting form will be provided.
