APDAWG – State of UK Rescue
Tuesday 20 February saw the second All Party Dog Animal Welfare Group, APDAWG, annual meeting to discuss the state of UK Rescue. Like 2023, the meeting was fully subscribed with representatives from rescues and those with interest and support in our sector.

It was brilliant to see so many ADCH members in attendance and taking time out to attend this important meeting. The majority of speakers were also from ADCH members, which was wonderful to see. Kellie O’Shea spoke about Carla Lane Animals in Need’s work and legal challenges on the Bully XL ban; Kirsteen Campbell from SSPCA gave a presentation on the work of the SSPCA in Scotland; Natalie Powdrill-Wells told the meeting about Woodgreen Pet Charity’s work in the community with Change for Life and their work on relinquishment prevention; Caron Lane spoke about the difficulties in greyhound rescue in the current environment, particularly post covid; and Vanessa Waddon from Hope Rescue updated on their new organisational strategy in light of the current challenges facing them.
We know that there is great enthusiasm for working together with peers in the sector and ADCH will continue to support this via our new Strategy.
