ADCH Confirms Election Results for Board of Trustees
The Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) has recently conducted elections for several key positions on its Board of Trustees, including Chair, Vice Chair, and two Trustee positions. Additionally, the Association held open recruitment for an Honorary Treasurer. The results of these appointments were announced at the recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on July 2nd and presented to members by the Association’s Secretary, Peter Laurie.
Giles Webber has been re-elected as Chair of ADCH. Giles, the CEO of Birmingham Dogs Home, has been a dedicated volunteer and Trustee of ADCH for many years and was first elected as Chair in 2021. The board congratulated and thanked Giles for his continued leadership and commitment to the Charity.
There were two nominations for the Vice Chair position. Following the election, Caroline Johnson was confirmed as Vice Chair. Caroline, who is the Chief Executive of Oak Tree Animal Charity, joined the board as a Trustee in 2021. Since 2022, she has also chaired the ADCH Member Engagement Committee.
Caroline succeeds Peter Hepburn, who has served as Vice Chair since 2015. Peter, originally a part of the management committee, will continue his role as an ADCH Trustee and as Chair of the Standards and Welfare Committee. His dedicated service as Vice Chair has been highly valued and greatly appreciated.
The election for Trustee positions saw nine nominations from members. ADCH welcomed Chris Bray from Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter as a new Trustee and celebrated the re-election of David Bowles from the RSPCA, who will continue to also Chair the ADCH Governance Committee. Both bring valuable experience and dedication to the board.
Following an open recruitment process, ADCH welcomed the appointment of Yvonne Goddard as Honorary Treasurer. Yvonne brings a wealth of financial experience and expertise to the team, which will be invaluable as the association continues to grow and evolve.
Special thanks were given to Steve Byrne, who is stepping down as a Trustee this year. Steve has dedicated nine years of service to ADCH, initially on the management committee and subsequently as a Trustee. As the GSPCA Manager and a long-term member of ADCH, Steve will continue to volunteer on the ADCH Member Engagement Committee.
The board also expressed their gratitude to Shakespeare Martineau LLP for their support as independent scrutineers of the election, ensuring the process was conducted fairly and transparently.
