Rebecca Cooper Reflects on Her First Year as ADCH Executive Director
Yesterday marks one year since Rebecca Cooper joined ADCH as Executive Director, a milestone she reflects on with immense gratitude and enthusiasm. “Everyone has offered such a warm welcome, and I am thrilled to have been part of ADCH for a whole year – the time has flown by.” she shared.
Over the past year, ADCH has made significant strides. A new strategy for 2024 to 2030 was launched following extensive engagement with members and stakeholders, leading to the development of a strategy delivery plan and an income generation plan.
The year has been marked by a diverse array of member events, both online and in person. A standout moment was the sell-out ADCH Annual Conference in May, which attracted over 550 delegates, including guests who travelled from as far as the USA. The two-day event featured 40 speakers across 25 sessions and was further distinguished by the Petplan & ADCH Animal Charity Awards 2024, celebrating exceptional contributions to animal welfare. It was a wonderful evening of awards, networking, and celebration. Rebecca extends her gratitude to everyone involved for making the ADCH Conference 2024 such a memorable event.
ADCH also welcomed 18 member and affiliate organisations, secured additional corporate offers for members, saw its Members’ Only Facebook Group grow to over 600 members, and enhanced its welfare and operational efforts with a 25% increase in assessments and the recruitment of new volunteer assessors. The charity remained active in legislative matters, keeping members informed and responding to key consultations. Internal developments included the permanent appointment of staff member Ellie Roche as Membership Services Coordinator and the addition of new trustees.
Looking ahead, Rebecca is excited about the future. ADCH is focused on implementing its strategy delivery plan, with initial developments underway for regional group pilots, expanding member benefits, and advancing assessment efforts, all while ensuring the organisation’s sustainability. Upcoming events include a November Open Meeting in the Southeast, a series of scheduled webinars, and the team is already planning for the 2025 conference, which is set to be even better than the last!
Rebecca has valued the chance to meet members at various events and visits and is eager to connect with more members in the coming year. She and her team look forward to visiting and engaging with many of you, eager to learn more about your work and experiences.
Rebecca is incredibly proud of her small staff team; Therese, Clare, and Ellie and is deeply appreciative of the countless volunteers, trustees, committee members, and assessors who generously dedicate their time and expertise. She expressed, “Thank you. Your unwavering commitment and passion drive our mission forward. I am profoundly grateful for your support and tireless efforts.” She also extends sincere thanks to our funders, sponsors, and supporters for their invaluable contributions.
In closing, Rebecca shares,
“The strength of ADCH lies in the dedication of its members. Your passion and contributions to our community are fundamental to our collective achievements. Your unwavering commitment to animal care and the support you offer one another make ADCH an exceptional organisation. Thank you for all that you do. Together, we are truly ‘Together, for Dogs and Cats.’”
