Reporting to: Head of Rescue & Rehoming
Contract type: Full time (permanent)
Hours 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on a two-week rolling rota. You will be required to participate in the provision of 24-hour cover on a rota basis.
Salary: £26,436.80 per annum

Dog Carer
• Enthusiastically contributes to our aim of providing quality care for rescued and abandoned dogs and finding them suitable homes.
• Keen to help maintain and increase the support for SDR’s activities with the general public, potential donors, other animal welfare organisations and other stakeholders.
• Recognition of the importance of representing the charity in a professional & caring manner
• Happy to help implement initiatives as directed by management or the Board of Trustees.
• Enjoys acting as an integral part of the SDR team of staff, management, Trustees, members and volunteers.
• Hours of work are from 8.00am to 5.00pm
Knowledge and Experience
Unless stated otherwise, the knowledge and experience listed below are essential for this role.
• Understanding of animal care and behaviour
• Previous experience of working in kennels essential – (ideally within rescue & rehoming environment)
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to demonstrate aptitude for dog handling
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team
• A full UK manual driving licence is required; the role involves driving the charity’s vehicle.
• Able to work on a flexible basis (hours/days) including weekends and bank holidays

Interviews

1st round of interviews will be on Thursday 17th September.
2nd round interviews will consist of a half day trial and practical exercises. This will be the week commencing Monday 21st September
