Team: Cat Welfare Assurance
Location: Remote in North England, South Scotland and Northern Ireland with frequent travel and occasionally outside of the region
Work pattern: 35 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends
Salary: Up to £30,809.83 per annum
Contract: Permanent
This role requires an enhanced DBS check (including the Children’s Barred List).
Responsibilities of our Community Cat Welfare Advisor:
building successful working relationships with volunteers in cat welfare roles
supporting our volunteer branches by undertaking welfare support visits to fosterers
maintaining accurate records using the welfare support system
producing annual branch welfare plans and helping branches understand and adhere to our cat welfare policies
providing assistance with the induction, training and on-going support of volunteer Cat Welfare Team Leaders and Fosterers
supporting branches to reduce the time from admission to adoption for cats in care
working with other Cats Protection teams, including Branch Development Managers, Field Veterinary Officers; Veterinary and Learning and Development teams, to assist in delivering initiatives that promote good cat welfare and share best practice
actively promoting learning and development opportunities
About the Cat Welfare Assurance team:
the team is made up of a Senior Cat Welfare Manager, two Cat Welfare Team Leaders and 10 Community Cat Welfare Advisors working remotely across the UK.
each advisor works closely with the wider operational teams, to support local staff and volunteer teams across the cat‑facing operational network, helping them understand and deliver the highest standards of feline welfare. Through this guidance, our operational teams are equipped to meet both internal and external expectations and, above all, to put cats first
What we’re looking for in our Community Cat Welfare Advisor:
experience of working in the animal welfare or volunteering sectors
experience of working in an environment where compliance against an agreed set of standards is necessary
an aptitude for working with processes and systems
experience of working in a branch or confederated volunteer led structure
ability to produce reports using Microsoft Office, to a high standard
the ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders
a full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
flexible to work some weekends and evenings
