ADCH Islands Regional Group Launch Attracts National and Local Media Attention

We’re delighted that our most recently formed Regional Group, the Islands Regional Group, has been gaining widespread recognition, with coverage from both local and national media outlets.

The group brings together ADCH Members across Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man, and held its first virtual meeting in September. Led by ADCH Volunteer Regional Coordinator and GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne, the session brought together teams from the GSPCA, JSPCA and ManxSPCA to share insights, discuss operational challenges and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Steve’s original article, published here on the GSPCA website, highlighted the value of connecting with fellow island charities and the enthusiasm for building stronger relationships. He described the meeting as a “great success”, with plans already underway to expand participation.

The story was picked up by BBC News, which reported on the group’s formation and the meaningful discussions that took place. You can read the article here.

Local media also took notice, with Bailiwick Express publishing a feature praising the initiative for fostering collaboration and highlighting the importance of regional connections in strengthening animal welfare efforts. You can read their article here.

The new group is part of ADCH’s growing network of eleven Regional Groups across the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands. These groups are designed to strengthen peer support, encourage collaboration and provide Members with opportunities to connect locally, share knowledge and work together on common priorities.

This growth has only been possible thanks to the support of Pets Foundation, whose funding has enabled ADCH to launch Regional Groups and recruit and support the volunteers who coordinate them. We are hugely grateful to our team of thirteen Volunteer Regional Coordinators, who generously give their time, skills and expertise to bring Members together and ensure the success of each group.

ADCH Members can find their nearest Regional Group and get involved via the Members Area of our website.
