ADCH Committee Leadership Update
As part of our ongoing commitment to strong governance and effective leadership, ADCH continues to review its committee structure in line with our Terms of Office. This ensures we maintain continuity of thinking while also creating space for fresh ideas and development.
Following Peter Hepburn’s move into the role of Honorary Treasurer (announced at the end of last year), the position of Chair of our Standards and Welfare Committee (SAWC) became vacant.
The appointment process was overseen by the Governance Committee and, following a formal application and review process, Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Caroline Johnson as SAWC Chair. We are pleased to confirm Caroline’s appointment and look forward to the leadership and insight she will bring to this important role.
Giles Webber, Chair of ADCH, said: “I would like to thank Peter for the significant contribution he has made in leading SAWC and for the experience and commitment he continues to bring to his role as Honorary Treasurer. I am delighted to congratulate Caroline on her appointment as Chair. SAWC plays a central role in upholding our standards, and I am confident Caroline will provide strong and thoughtful leadership in this next phase of our work.”
Caroline brings significant sector experience as a charity leader and Clinical Animal Behaviourist, alongside her longstanding involvement with ADCH as a Trustee, Committee Chair and Assessor. She is exceptionally well suited to lead this important committee.
Peter and Caroline will work together on a structured handover, after which Peter will continue his longstanding role as an Assessor, alongside his responsibilities as Honorary Treasurer. We are grateful to Peter for his continued support, commitment and leadership.
As Caroline takes on the SAWC Chair role, she will step back from her role as Chair of the Membership Engagement Committee. This provides an opportunity to consider how Membership Engagement is best delivered going forward.
Membership Engagement runs through everything we do at ADCH and remains central to our work. Building on the success of existing working groups – particularly around Meetings and Events, we are exploring how this focused approach can be applied more widely, including across Jurisdictional and Corporate Engagement.
This is not about creating additional committees, but about building on what works and ensuring our activity remains targeted and effective, strengthening the excellent work already underway.
