Are you looking for a new role with an impact on improving animal welfare?
We’re looking for a Clinic Assistant to join our Merthyr Tydfil Animal Clinic on a part time basis.

The Merthyr Tydfil Animal Clinic opened in October 2005 to provide a veterinary service for sick and injured animals that have been rescued by RSPCA inspectors, and at a low cost for pets belonging to people on low incomes or certain benefits who live in the surrounding community.

As a Clinic Assistant you’ll be supporting veterinary nurses and senior clinicians including theatre, ward and animal care duties. You’ll assist in customer queries and assess client’s eligibility to receive treatment at the clinic promoting excellent customer care as well as offering basic animal welfare advice. The role includes maintaining up to date and accurate clinical records.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual who enjoys working with people and with a passion for animal welfare. Through your role as a Clinic Assistant you’ll have a direct impact on animal welfare of the animals at the clinic.

What you’ll be doing:

Supporting the team in customer queries including information on the clinic, updating clients on their animals and other general enquiries
Contributing to the high quality care of animals at the clinic assisting with feeding and exercising animals
Providing support for nurse clinic appointments, including supporting post operations checks and stitch removal
Carrying out telephone and general reception duties on a rota basis as required
General cleaning duties throughout the clinic including equipment, animal quarters and premises
Maintaining up to date and accurate clinical records
Dispensing drugs in accordance with professional guidelines and Clinic rules and under supervision of veterinary staff
Monitoring and restocking consulting rooms and surgeries as directed and under supervision of veterinary staff
Undertaking daily cashing up duties and dealing with payments to the clinic

You’ll have:

NVQ Level 2 in Animal Care or equivalent is desirable
Customer care experience
Animal Handling Experience
Understanding of Animal Welfare Issues
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
