We’re recruiting for two Animal Care Assistant to join the team at Leybourne Animal Centre on a casual basis.

Leybourne Animal Centre opened in 1996 and has the capacity to care for over 50 dogs in our kennels and up to 72 cats in our cattery, we also have a small animal house which caters for just about everything else! This can include ferrets, rodents, birds and even sometimes farm animals. We are also a temporary holding centre for wildlife casualties and have an equine rehoming unit.

As an Animal Care Assistant you’ll be providing care for all animals in the Centre, establishing good customer relations with members of the public and RSPCA staff and maintaining administration and health and safety procedures in use.

This is a flexible working relationship as we are unable to guarantee set hours or days.

What you’ll be doing:
Cleaning animal accommodation for cats and dogs to the required standard set by the RSPCA
Preparing and providing food and water for all animals in the establishment
Performing regular health checks on all animals and giving medical treatments as prescribed by the centres consulting Veterinary Surgeon
Attending to the needs of the individual animals including providing exercise/socialisation and grooming for all animals within the care of the centre
Working on Reception and communicating with visitors both face to face and by phone, representing the RSPCA positively and professionally at all times
Working as part of a team with staff and volunteers
Completing all relevant animal paperwork and updating the Centres computer data base for all animals held on site

You’ll have:
Experience working with domestic animals. Good animal handling skills are essential
Good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team
Good customer care skills
Animal Care qualifications are desirable
