ADCH members need to be registered charities to ensure they operate with transparency, accountability, and a legal commitment to public benefit. Being a registered charity demonstrates adherence to strict governance standards, ethical fundraising practices, and the responsible use of resources—all of which are vital for maintaining public trust in individual charities, and our sector as a whole. Registration also demonstrates that members prioritise animal welfare above profit, aligning with ADCH’s core mission to promote welfare standards for animals in care. This legal status further strengthens the collective voice of ADCH, enabling greater influence on policy and access to further funding opportunities.
Rescue and rehoming organisations who do apply for charitable status can look at applying to be Full Members of ADCH.
